Wipeout Hill Loop

Location Moab, UT
Rating Moderate,
Length 5.9mi

Vehicle Types

Overview

Mildly challenging loop with optional extreme challenge.

You can get to Wipeout Hill two ways: as a side trip off Sevenmile Rim, trail #21, or from the south departing from Highway 313. Our route differs from the Safari Wipeout Hill route because you can turn around at the obstacle without having to drive up it. Many people avoid this area because of the daunting reputation of Wipeout Hill, which is a shame. It’s a fantastic area to explore with fun side roads, great scenery, and a variety of challenging terrain.

Trail Ratings Defined

This trail has gotten rockier and more difficult since the last time we drove it, but we’ve decided to keep the rating at moderate. You’ll need an aggressive, high-clearance, 4x4 vehicle designed for offroading. We drove it in our stock Jeep Wrangler Sport but did not drive up Wipeout Hill.

The parking and trailhead for Wipeout Loop are located at ‘Navajo Rocks,’ to the right of the bike trail.

Many ledges along the route have become more difficult and we will be rating this trail difficult in the next edition. I got through okay in my stock Wrangler Sport, but it was challenging.
