Overview

Scenic forest drive to three fire towers.

A pleasant drive through the forest with things to see along the way. Towers are still used but not necessarily manned. Stairs were open to climb. Big Springs was manned on our visit. non-street-legal OHVs are allowed on forest roads but not on paved Hwy. 67. No designated staging area, but there are plenty of places to stage once you start into the forest. You can camp along F.S. 461 and depart from there or stay at Kaibab Camper Village. To shorten the trip, just visit the first two towers and return to Jacob Lake via F.S. 22 at Waypoint 08.
