Overview

Network of fun offroad trails often obscured by blowing sand.

You must first understand this route before you can find all the other routes. It is an extremely confusing area, especially during the off season when there are no tire tracks to follow. We recommend first-timers participate in the San Diego 4-Wheelers Annual Superstition Mountain Run in January (www.sd4wheel.com). Great area for green-sticker vehicles. Camp on desert floor near Waypoint 01 where the ground is firm and well-suited for large campers and motorhomes.

Trail Ratings Defined

Rating applies to this route only and even that could change with drifting sand. Interior routes shown on map range from moderate to extremely difficult. Route-finding can be nearly impossible at times. Use the three towers and paved roads as directional landmarks. Avoid drift side of dunes where rollovers are possible.
