Guide to Northern Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails 3rd Edition

Trail # 19

Vehicle Types

Overview

Wide forest road through popular camping area.

Pingree Park Road is not a 4-wheel-drive road, but we describe it here because it is a very popular area with a massive amount of free dispersed camping. It makes a great base of operations for other 4-wheel-drive roads in the area. Monument Gulch is a fun 4-wheel-drive shortcut to Buckhorn Road, 44H, from which other 4WD roads depart. Pingree Park Road is plowed for winter travel, but Monument Gulch Road shuts down Dec.1 through June 14. Jacks Gulch Campground, with 70 large sites, is the only fee campground. No unlicensed vehicles.
