Overview

Scenic loop with side trips to Honanki and Palatki Indian Ruins.

Here’s a fun little backcountry loop you can add to a visit to the Honanki Indian Ruins. Locals refer to this loop as the “Outlaw Trail.” While there, you can also turn right at the start to visit the Palatki Ruins. Both trips feature beautiful red rock scenery and impressive Indian cliff dwellings. You’ll need a Red Rock Pass to park at the sites. As you drive north on well-traveled Forest Road 525, you’ll see many dispersed camp spots and fun side roads for unlicensed vehicles.

Trail Ratings Defined

Most of the loop is easy, but a couple of steep, rocky sections require a moderate rating. Most stock SUVs with high ground clearance can do it. Skid plates will help.
