Climbs to beautiful lake with seasonal wildflowers.

Short, beautiful drive to picturesque lake near timberline. Photogenic stream with seasonal wildflowers along upper portion of the route. Hike short distance to waterfall on northwest corner of lake. More lakes higher up. Camp in designated spots only. Unlicensed vehicles allowed to park along side of wide Steuart Road, but cannot ride or park in town of Alice before start of trail. Lower half open June 2 through Nov. 30. Upper half open July 16 through October 16.

Trail Ratings Defined

Road starts easy but gradually gets steeper with more embedded rock. Most high-clearance, 4-wheel-drive SUVs can manage this route, but careful tire placement may be needed, depending on clearance.

I love this trail. The book doesn't mention the dates it is open but it is only fully open from July 15th to October 15th every year according to the MVUM. Rated a 4 only because Chinns Lake trail is just a little better!
