Overview

Follows high ridge with views and good camping.

Much of this road follows a high ridge with good camping and views. We start the trail on the east end, which has a central area of good camping with easy access. It is a popular area for unlicensed vehicles to begin. This end of the trail has some challenging trails to the north. Starting on the west end allows you to also access Pierson Park Road, Trail #24. Both routes are open June 15 to Nov. 30.

Trail Ratings Defined

This rating applies to just a few steep, rocky sections onthe east end that are borderline difficult. Aggressive stock SUVs with high ground clearance and an experienced driver should be able to manage this section with careful tire placement. If you are not sure, we recommend you start on the west end, where a lower clearance SUV can reach the scenic camp spots before the steep downhill.

The trail is still closed as of 6/15/19 Usually it is open by the end of May or first week in June. This is really disappointing for those of us who live in Estes Park and go 4-wheeling on a weekly basis.
