Overview

Extreme, mile-long boulder field in narrow canyon.

The Independence Trail System is composed of four extreme trails: Independence, Freedom, Patriot and Liberty. The trails wind through interconnected rocky canyons with winch points. Rock stacking is discouraged, but if required, rocks must be removed after use. Bring fuel-spill cleanup kit. Hot in summer. Watch for rattlesnakes. Camp at existing fire rings. Bring your own firewood. Pack out all trash. Violation of rules could result in closure of area.

Trail Ratings Defined

Rock ledges and giant boulders 4 to 5 feet high. Expect rollovers and vehicle damage. Lockers, roll cage and giant tires a must. Scout trail first. Canyons are too difficult for ATVs and UTVs, but they are legal in the area. Great for motorcycle trials riding.
