Overview

Big ruts and tight brush on way to interesting cow camp.

This handy shortcut from Coffee Pot Road to the Transfer Trail offers more challenging terrain than most roads in the area. Trail drops down from a high ridge and passes through rustic, dilapidated Grizzly Cow Camp. The camp is no longer in use, except for one cabin preserved by the forest service. Dispersed camping is more remote than other roads in the area and is popular with hunters in the fall. A fun trail for unlicensed vehicles. Call numbers at right for possible seasonal closure dates.

Trail Ratings Defined

Narrow in spots with deep ruts and muddy patches. Difficult stretch starts at Waypoint 03 with a steep descent down a rocky ledge, then continues through an overgrown area with deep, twisting ruts. We got our stock Grand Cherokee through without a scratch, but had to be careful.
