Dotsero Crater

Circles north from Gypsum to Dotsero.

From a scenic standpoint, this route does not rank very high by Colorado standards, but the drive is still very interesting. Our selection of roads, from the many available, takes you along the edge of Dotsero Crater and through the center of the BLM Castle Peak Area, which is popular with ATVs and dirt bikes. Several single-track routes are available. All routes shown here are open year-round.

Most roads are wide and easy, with the exception of a few steep sections. Some clay-surface roads are impassable when wet.
