Lots to see on this impressive and challenging mountain loop.

Outstanding loop route that has it all: stunning scenery, historic buildings and real adventure. Connects to other outstanding trails. Great area for ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes with parking at Wpt. 02. Recommend side trip at Wpt. 03 to top of Radical Hill. Mountain goats are often seen here.

I drove these two trails on July 1, 2018. Both trails have gotten a bit more difficult. If you drive up Saints John (the reverse direction described in book), I would now rate it “Difficult” above Wild Irishman Mine. Also, as you start up Saints John from the town of Montezuma, there is an unofficial sign that says “No unlicensed vehicles.” However, just a little bit beyond that is the official forest service sign that says unlicensed vehicles are allowed. The MVUM also shows this trail allows unlicensed vehicles.
