Overview

Ends at a wide overlook with panoramic views of Grand Junction and Battlement Mesa.

This trail is lesser known, but we really enjoyed driving it. It starts off crossing low-elevation washes, then passes through a canyon. From there, it climbs a steep ridge with views looking back at South Shale Ridge and Twin Peaks. After crossing a high saddle, it ends at a wide overlook with panoramic views of Grand Junction and Battlement Mesa. Eroded sections of the trail can be bypassed by driving in the washes. Trail is maintained by the Grand Mesa Jeep Club. Open all year, weather permitting.

Difficult. Steep, rocky and narrow in places, but no major obstacles. Cross one deep, rocky wash that can increase in difficulty after a rainstorm. One very tippy spot on a hillside. Not for oversized vehicles.
