Fun SUV road that ends with steep descent to river.

A fun drive through scenic valleys and over ridges, culminating in an exciting steep one-mile descent to the Middle Fork of the Feather River. The campground is perfectly nestled by the river and was not affected by the recent fire; however, be mindful of abundant deadfall along the trail. We encountered one large fallen tree but were able to bypass it. Green-sticker vehicles are allowed.

Moderate. Mostly easy drive. The last mile is the most challenging and thrilling part of the trail. This section includes steep switchbacks with sharp turns on a narrow shelf road with out room to pass. It requires low range gearing and a short-wheelbase vehicle.
