Overview

Scenic camp spots surround beautiful mountain lake.

Great camping and fishing at Chinns Lake and Sherman Lake in a narrow scenic valley. Fall River Reservoir is larger and not as picturesque, but still very scenic when the reservoir is full. Unlicensed vehicles are allowed on F.S. 174D to Chinns Lake. We saw ATVs parked at Fall River Reservoir, but were not sure if they were legal, since 275.7 is a county road. We suspect enforcement was minimal after Waypoint 02. Recommend you park and unload at start of Chinns Lake Road. County Road 275.7 is wide at the start as it passes through a residential area, but soon it narrows to a rougher forest-like road. No seasonal closures.

Trail Ratings Defined

The road to Fall River Reservoir is easy with some rougher spots after the fork. The road to Chinns Lake climbs up the side of the valley and gets progressively steeper and rougher. High-clearance, 4-wheeldrive SUVs can make it.
