Picnic, camp and fish on way to high-elevation mines.

Road follows beautiful Lincoln Creek and is surrounded by wilderness. Stay on road at all times. Popular mountain biking, hiking and fishing area. Road accesses historic Lincoln Creek Mining District. Camp in one of 22 designated sites along trail or in two F.S. Campgrounds. Swimming in Lincoln Creek is allowed but very dangerous. Unlicensed vehicles are allowed, but it is absolutely critical to stay on main road at all times.

The northern portion of this trail is easy. South of Grizzly Reservoir the trail narrows and gets a bit rockier. The last 0.7 miles before Ruby Mine is rocky, narrow and steep.

Gate prevented access to southern part of trail after Portal C.G. Open Seasonally May 23-Sept. 15.

The road is clear and conditions as described in the book. Any avalanche tree fall has been cleared – Only made it to approximately Truro Lake hike TH before daughter forced me to turn around.
