Remote area sees light traffic. Pass through ruins of Teller City Historic Site. Short side trip to restored log cabin. Drive to great views above 11,000 feet. Abundant seasonal wildflowers on short hike to pass. Many side roads to explore, including loop route to top of Owl Mountain. Great area for unlicensed vehicles. Heavy pine beetle damage along first part of trail, but last part of route is outstanding. No seasonal gate closures.

It is in good condition, but the most challenging rocky sections are actually between waypoints 5 and 6. I would rate this section as moderate due to the rocky challenges, not the easy rating that it has in the book. The upper section between waypoints 6 and 7 is not as rocky, but I suppose it deserves the moderate rating because it has a few narrow and steep sections. Still a lesser-used trail, though, only saw a few other parties all day, which is nice.
