Convenient desert drive just south of Lake Havasu City. Leaves directly from Highway 95. Route follows three major washes, which are part of a larger undefined OHV area. Popular area for riding ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes on weekends, since it’s located so close to town. Review the regulations posted on the kiosk at the start of the trail. Stay on existing trails.

The washboard surface on Middle Mohave Wash and West Mohave Wash has become unbearable. Heavy traffic from UTVs traveling at higher speeds has created an uneven kind of washboard that tosses you violently back and forth. Not liking the trail in this condition, I went back a second day and found routes that traverse the hills around the washes. This route will appear in the next edition of our Arizona book. Most of the side roads are fun but not difficult. The Lake Havasu 4WD Club had recently drag-graded Standard Wash vastly improving the washboard. West Mohave Wash is part of the Arizona Peace Trail, which has caused additional traffic.

There were so many trails at the beginning, all around the BLM kiosk, going every direction, that I was unable to find the trail described. Not the fault your directions, just too many self-made trails. We did, however, have a pleasant afternoon exploring the area.
